MTV wanted an animated screensaver to use internally for staff which, as well as being entertaining and visually appealing, needed to convey their company values without being corporate. The Design Laboratory team approached this by considering MTV’s key phrases such as ‘editing the familiar’, ‘connecting to the contemporary’ and ‘music enhances life’ turning them into a stylised animation featuring iconic musical figures alongside staff members in a funky, living room scenario.
The second half of the animation occurs after some TV interference and shows a darker, street-art inspired setting with the more rebellious slogans ‘revel in the shock of the new’ and ‘we want everything and we want it now’ to convey a more subversive image for the staff to relate to.

A graduate idea for an adult animation was developed within Design Labortory into a fully illustrated style guide and character study.
After the launch of the Alexander McQueen diffusion line ‘McQ’ the Content team were tasked with creating a video to promote the new brand to Gucci Group staff.
Hennessy developed the ‘Art of Mixing’ campaign in order to increase the use of Hennessy as a cocktail ingredient. The brief for Design Lab was to make this as appealing as possible to bar tenders.

A graduate idea for a children’s animation was developed by Design Laboratory and progressed to pilot stage after being optioned by animation production company Novel.
