
The Solutions team designed the now famous ‘Double Up’ sofa for contemporary furniture manufacturer Sturm Und Plastic. The requirements were very specific regarding the materials but in terms of style the team were given an open brief to develop a new concept. The finished sofa/bench is a sophisticated seating system composed of interlocking layers of self-skinning polyurethane, which is suitable for both outdoor and indoor use due to the durable nature of the materials.
Because the Double Up has very high production values the design needed to be extremely aesthetically pleasing to ensure demand – the design has remained a classic and continues to sell very well. Double Up also features in the book " New Chairs, Design, Technology, and Materials" by Mel Byars, which showcases some of the best design of the century.
With the absence of a physical product Intel needed to bring its new Viiv technology to life in a way potential customers could engage with.
