Ever since its earliest days, Samsonite has been the most innovative luggage manufacturer in the world. It has lead the industry in using new materials and creating new designs through collaborations during the years.
The Design Laboratory collaborated with Samsonite and created an exclusive travel piece called Samsonite x dl* at Central Saint Martins. The stylish luggage pays homage to the world of art, fashion and design. It fuses Samsonite’s industry-leading expertise in luggage-making, with the exceptional creativity and know-how of one of the world’s most iconic art and design schools.

Throughout the exterior and interior, the luggage is a showcase of inventiveness, with its use of different materials including leather and metal, and unique elements such a fully-printed lining with a London map, and an embossed logo patch.
Symbolising the collaboration between Samsonite and dl*, the modern criss-cross design around the luggage grabs attention. The overlapping straps highlight premium craftsmanship, while reflecting how textiles are weaved and knitted to produce fabric. As a tribute to avant-garde looks found in the fashion world, the contrasting coloured strap offers a striking design accent. The straps' stitching and the decorative rivets holding them in place, all point to the intricate level of detail.
On the exterior design, the brushed texture of the case further brings out a premium feel and also makes scratches less visible. Other special details include its double wheels with embossed wheel caps, and rigid metal accents around the bottom corners, bringing users a smoother and more stylish journey. The leather-wrapped carry handles with embossed Samsonite logo not only showcase the luggage's luxurious side but also make the travel experience more convenient. The metal logo plate also offers a touch of luxury, and displays the brilliance of this design collaboration.
For the interior, to further highlight the essence of collaboration, a subtle-yet-alluring map of London showing Central Saint Martins' location is printed on its lining, taking cues from some of the fashion world's most stylish and iconic designer prints. Samsonite x dl* at Central Saint Martins luggage also features unique detachable pouches, which can be reattached via velcro. It also offers side dividers and multi-pockets to help travellers easily organise their belongings.
